  • Schedule A
  • Workforce Recruitment
  • DFAS Careers
  • CAP
  • Schedule A

Schedule A is a special authority to hire eligible individuals with disabilities non-competitively for Federal positions. While eligibility may assist you with consideration for employment, it does not guarantee selection.

If you are eligible and qualified, you may apply to any vacancy announcement that indicates the position is open to “individuals with disabilities” under the Schedule A hiring authority. You must indicate that you are eligible to be considered under Schedule A in the eligibility questions of the application as well as attach your Schedule A letter (click here for a sample letter) to your application package. If deemed eligible and qualified for the position, your application will be referred to the hiring official for review.

For more information regarding eligibility, required documentation, and the application process, visit the USAJOBS Help Center regarding the employment of individuals with disabilities.

  • Workforce Recruitment Program for Students with Disabilities

The Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP) is designed for current undergraduate and graduate students with a disability or a recent graduate (within two and a half years of the previous December) with a disability. Those interested in this program must apply through the WRP and, if accepted, will be a part of a searchable database for hiring managers to select internships or permanent positions within DOD. For detailed information regarding eligibility and the application process, please visit the WRP website.

  • Defense Finance and Accounting Service Careers for Americans with Disabilities

The Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) Careers for Americans with Disabilities (DCAD) program utilizes the Schedule A authority (see above) to hire individuals with disabilities specifically for the Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS) organization within DOD. This program can be utilized in two ways: 1) Apply to an open vacancy announcement with DFAS through USAJobs.com utilizing the Schedule A process, or 2) Complete an application package and send it directly to the DCAD program. For instructions on how to apply directly to the program, visit the DCAD website.

  • Computer/Electronic Accommodations Program

The Computer/Electronic Accommodations (CAP) Program serves both the civilian and military workforces within DOD. By providing assistive technology and services free of charge to DOD customers, CAP helps the DOD make their work environments more accessible to people with hearing, visual, dexterity, cognitive, and communication impairments.
